When I first had the idea for Defected Character, I never imagined just how much work would go into bringing it to life.
What started as a concept has slowly become something real. Not just a clothing brand, but a message. A reminder that none of us are perfect, and maybe that’s exactly the point.
We’re now entering the final stretch.
The original plan was to launch sooner, but I’ve made the decision to hold back a little longer while the final samples arrive. It would have been easy to rush things, but that’s not what this brand is about. I’d rather wait a few extra weeks and launch something I’m genuinely proud of than put something out that doesn’t meet the standard I’ve set.
So, the target launch date is now 1 September.
If everything falls into place sooner, I might bring that date forward. But for now, I’d rather under-promise and over-deliver.
The journey so far has been full of trial and error.
There have been countless logo revisions, colour changes, website redesigns, product samples, print tests and more late nights than I’d care to admit. More than once I thought we’d cracked it, only to spot something that still wasn’t quite right.
Every tweak has been worth it.
Each decision has brought the brand closer to what I always wanted it to be.
Because Defected Character has never been just about selling T-shirts.
It’s about starting conversations.
It’s about acknowledging that we all have flaws, fears and character defects, but those things don’t define us. They can become the very things we grow from.
That’s why our first collection is the Defect Series. Every design represents a character defect many of us recognise in ourselves but rarely admit out loud. They’re not labels. They’re reminders that self-awareness is where growth begins.
In a funny way, it’s quite fitting that a brand called Defected Character hasn’t had a perfect journey getting here.
Maybe that’s the point.
There’s still work to do before launch, but for the first time it feels like everything is coming together. The vision is becoming reality.
